THE STAGE IS SET
The title of this post refers to the situation in Iran and the military buildup at various places across the Middle East. As I have said in past posts about the deadly protests in Iran (the current estimates are 30-50,000 dead) which were intended to crush the protesters and quell dissent, the west (specifically the United States) is not only justified in taking strong military action on Iran but has an obligation to do so. In this post I will mention some of the signals (there are too many to list them all) that suggest that action is close to beginning.
In a previous post I mentioned the USS Abraham Lincoln was heading towards the Middle East. Earlier this week the aircraft carrier along with its strike group (the carrier is part of it) arrived in the area of responsibility for Central command (near Iran). In addition, equipment and personnel have been arriving in the Middle East for the last several days including, fighter jets, missile defense batteries, and the personal that operate such equipment.
The list in the previous paragraph is not a complete list of assets already in or heading towards the Middle East, but the main ones that are public knowledge. Yesterday I also saw that the U.S has started to evacuate non-essential staff from embassies across the region.
On the Iranian side, they have refused to negotiate (I think negotiations should not even be an option in the first place). They have been executing protesters who were arrested, and public statements by leaders in Iran clearly state they are prepared for a regional war. (regional instead of national because it would include their proxies).
It is my opinion that the action against Iran should be very strong, but whatever happens remember it is justified for more reasons than even mentioned in this post.
Oh boy…
