AN UPDATE, A WARNING, And A POTENTIALLY HUGE DEVELOPMENT

 In this post I will list three events: one that happened a few hours ago, one that has been warned about happening soon, and last, a rumor going around that if it happens would be by far the most significant development of the war. 


First, I will mention the update. A few hours ago in Beirut, there was very heavy gunfire, and airstrikes during the shooting. The reason for the rapidity of the gunfire is unknown. The "incident" 'lasted about 45 minutes, and intermittent gunfire is ongoing as I type this post.


Next, the Houthis have threatened to attack vital sites in Saudi Arabia. This world be significant because, although Saudi Arabia has been engaged in an armed conflict with the Houthis since 2015, given the current tensions in the region, such an attack could trigger a regional event.


Lastly, there is a lot of speculation that a Kurdish offensive backed by the United States is about to begin in Iran. The reason I used the word potentially in the title, and speculation in this paragraph is, it is unclear if the offensive started today or is going to start in a few days. However, it has been confirmed that Kurdish forces are in position for an offensive that when launched (if it has not started already) will occur with the intention of overthrowing the Iranian Regime.

REASON FOR THIS BLOG

When I was a kid knowledge of two events shaped my interest in global events. The first event that I learned about was 9/11 and I first heard about it in 2009, The second event that shaped my interest and the first thing I tracked as it was happening was the Arab spring in 2011. Ever since I learned about 9/11, I have always paid increasing attention to big stories around the world and at home but have always been annoyed with media outlets selecting which stories to cover instead on simply covering events as they happen. I am starting this blog to cover events in a straightforward way as they occur and to give my insight to those events. When necessary, I will add historical examples that help form my opinion. In a world that seems to be on fire people need reporting and insight without an agenda.

WHO WAS RIGHT? DANGEROUS SITUATION

 I closed the last post by asking what if anything people thought would happen between the United States and Iran by time I write this post. I also asked if something did happen, which side would be responsible for it?. If you said that something would happen, and it would be the United States (I am not saying the U.S was wrong to do it) you you are right. Yesterday an Iranian cargo ship broke through the U.S. blockade and after ignoring orders to stop, had its engine room hit by rounds fired by the USS Spruance. The other development I wanted to address is, today the U.S. Embassy in Iraq warned U.S. citizens already in the country to leave immediately. It also urged U.S. citizens not to travel to Iraq. The reason for the  concern is terrorist groups in the country are said to be aiming to assault Americans. The situation is so unstable the Embassy has cautioned U.S. citizens that want to leave Iraq not to go to the Embassy in Baghdad, or the Consulate in Erbil.
