CATASTROPHE IN VENEZUELA
About six hours ago in Venezuela, a rare doublet earthquake occurred (a doublet earthquake is a rare seismic phenomenon). In the case of Venezuela, the doublet was a 7.2 magnitude earthquake, followed by a 7.5 magnitude earthquake 40 seconds later.
Very few details are known at this point, except that the damage in the capitol city of Caracas alone (which is 100 miles away from the epicenter of either earthquake) is extremely immense.
It is estimated that several thousand people have died.
