HISTORY ALTERING DECISION, I HOPE IT DOES NOT HAPPEN

 On June 14th, it has been said that the United States will sign a memorandum of understanding with Iran (even though Iran has said they will not). Whether you agree with the war, or not, agreeing to anything with Iran is a bad move. In the next paragraph, I will state reasons why I hope this "signing" does not happen.


First, the Government has not related any details of the mou to the public before the signing (odd for something so important). The second reason I hope the signing does happen (and by far the biggest reason) is it will severely damage the United States's standing in the world. 


In fact, if this "deal" gets signed, I think it will be the move (or first in a series of moves) that will damage the United States's standing in the world so badly it might never recover  


I have said in several past posts that there was a risk of decisions with the kind of consequences that I laid out in the last paragraph. 


We should all hope this deal does not happen.

REASON FOR THIS BLOG

When I was a kid knowledge of two events shaped my interest in global events. The first event that I learned about was 9/11 and I first heard about it in 2009, The second event that shaped my interest and the first thing I tracked as it was happening was the Arab spring in 2011. Ever since I learned about 9/11, I have always paid increasing attention to big stories around the world and at home but have always been annoyed with media outlets selecting which stories to cover instead on simply covering events as they happen. I am starting this blog to cover events in a straightforward way as they occur and to give my insight to those events. When necessary, I will add historical examples that help form my opinion. In a world that seems to be on fire people need reporting and insight without an agenda.

WHO WAS RIGHT? DANGEROUS SITUATION

 I closed the last post by asking what if anything people thought would happen between the United States and Iran by time I write this post. I also asked if something did happen, which side would be responsible for it?. If you said that something would happen, and it would be the United States (I am not saying the U.S was wrong to do it) you you are right. Yesterday an Iranian cargo ship broke through the U.S. blockade and after ignoring orders to stop, had its engine room hit by rounds fired by the USS Spruance. The other development I wanted to address is, today the U.S. Embassy in Iraq warned U.S. citizens already in the country to leave immediately. It also urged U.S. citizens not to travel to Iraq. The reason for the  concern is terrorist groups in the country are said to be aiming to assault Americans. The situation is so unstable the Embassy has cautioned U.S. citizens that want to leave Iraq not to go to the Embassy in Baghdad, or the Consulate in Erbil.
