TALLY UPDATE, BOILING POT

 As of the most recent update in Venezuela, there are 5,034 injured, and 1,719 dead (with tens of thousands still missing). The window for rescuing people alive is almost over (if not shut already) and there are many examples that show extreme incompetence by the ruling regime in Venezuela.


Before I list some of the most egregious examples of incompetence, remember the Maduro Regime is still in place. The only difference is the regime is led by Delcy Rodríguez since Maduro was arrested in January. So, the incompetence is not surprising, but it is still appalling.


Since the earthquakes occurred last Wednesday, very little empathy for the country has been expressed by the regime. In addition, there are many accounts of troops in Venezuela's National Guard looking for items among the rubble instead of rescuing people that are known to be trapped in the same heap. Perhaps the most infuriating example of incompetence (among many) for Venezuelans is, they know many more people are dead than the regime is acknowledging.


Public anger is rapidly increasing (there are already videos that show angry citizens attempting to push through lines of armed Venezuelan Troops) and it is anticipated that angry protests/riots in the near future are inevitable.

REASON FOR THIS BLOG

When I was a kid knowledge of two events shaped my interest in global events. The first event that I learned about was 9/11 and I first heard about it in 2009, The second event that shaped my interest and the first thing I tracked as it was happening was the Arab spring in 2011. Ever since I learned about 9/11, I have always paid increasing attention to big stories around the world and at home but have always been annoyed with media outlets selecting which stories to cover instead on simply covering events as they happen. I am starting this blog to cover events in a straightforward way as they occur and to give my insight to those events. When necessary, I will add historical examples that help form my opinion. In a world that seems to be on fire people need reporting and insight without an agenda.

WHO WAS RIGHT? DANGEROUS SITUATION

 I closed the last post by asking what if anything people thought would happen between the United States and Iran by time I write this post. I also asked if something did happen, which side would be responsible for it?. If you said that something would happen, and it would be the United States (I am not saying the U.S was wrong to do it) you you are right. Yesterday an Iranian cargo ship broke through the U.S. blockade and after ignoring orders to stop, had its engine room hit by rounds fired by the USS Spruance. The other development I wanted to address is, today the U.S. Embassy in Iraq warned U.S. citizens already in the country to leave immediately. It also urged U.S. citizens not to travel to Iraq. The reason for the  concern is terrorist groups in the country are said to be aiming to assault Americans. The situation is so unstable the Embassy has cautioned U.S. citizens that want to leave Iraq not to go to the Embassy in Baghdad, or the Consulate in Erbil.
