IF THEY LOSE

 I have said in past posts what I think would happen globally speaking if Ukraine loses against Russia. In this post, I am going to paint a picture of what it would be like for Ukrainian civilians if Ukraine were to loss the war. I am going to do this by talking about a family of 6 (husband, wife, 3 sons, 1 daughter) who live in Ukraine after they lose. Last note to keep in mind, the husband is 46, the wife is 44, and the ages of the kids range from 21-14.


It is early winter, and a mom and daughter stand in a prison cell. On the other side of the same building a dad is being put on a stretcher to be transported to a hospital to be treated (he has terminal cancer). In the same cell are 2 of his sons. The third son has been in a Russian reeducation camp for three years. The boys (they are both under 18) watch as their dad is rolled out of the cell.


Ukraine was defeated a week before the scene in the previous paragraph, and all 5 of the family members in the prison have been sentenced to death for remaining loyal to Ukraine.


After being in prison for 9 days, one of the sons (age 16) is handcuffed and led outside. Once outside he has the handcuffs taken off, is handed a shovel, and told to dig two graves. When the sun comes up, the brother who was left in the cell (age 17) is handcuffed and led outside. When the 17-year-old gets outside, the first thing he sees is a large crowd. The next thing he sees is his brother (who was taken out of the cell earlier) standing in front of one of the graves blindfolded, with his hands bound. A few minutes later, as the other brother is having a blindfold put on, he sees that one of the two men that is going to shoot them is their youngest brother (the one who had been at the reeducation camp).  When the shots ring out, the mom and daughter fall on their knees wailing as the two sons/brothers fall into their graves.


A week later, the mom and daughter have their hands bound and are led outside. The daughter is led onto a platform, while the mom is placed standing, facing the platform The mom sees two guards walk up to her daughter. The mom watches as the guards begin to tie her daughter's feet together. As the mom is watching, she is led onto the platform. By the time she gets up there she sees that her daughter's hands were bound as the mom was being led up. The daughter watches as her mom stands next to her and has the same things done to her. The guards put the hood over the mom's head first, as they do, she softly tells her daughter she loves her. Seconds later both remain calm as they are hanged.

REASON FOR THIS BLOG

When I was a kid knowledge of two events shaped my interest in global events. The first event that I learned about was 9/11 and I first heard about it in 2009, The second event that shaped my interest and the first thing I tracked as it was happening was the Arab spring in 2011. Ever since I learned about 9/11, I have always paid increasing attention to big stories around the world and at home but have always been annoyed with media outlets selecting which stories to cover instead on simply covering events as they happen. I am starting this blog to cover events in a straightforward way as they occur and to give my insight to those events. When necessary, I will add historical examples that help form my opinion. In a world that seems to be on fire people need reporting and insight without an agenda.

WHO WAS RIGHT? DANGEROUS SITUATION

 I closed the last post by asking what if anything people thought would happen between the United States and Iran by time I write this post. I also asked if something did happen, which side would be responsible for it?. If you said that something would happen, and it would be the United States (I am not saying the U.S was wrong to do it) you you are right. Yesterday an Iranian cargo ship broke through the U.S. blockade and after ignoring orders to stop, had its engine room hit by rounds fired by the USS Spruance. The other development I wanted to address is, today the U.S. Embassy in Iraq warned U.S. citizens already in the country to leave immediately. It also urged U.S. citizens not to travel to Iraq. The reason for the  concern is terrorist groups in the country are said to be aiming to assault Americans. The situation is so unstable the Embassy has cautioned U.S. citizens that want to leave Iraq not to go to the Embassy in Baghdad, or the Consulate in Erbil.
