SOCCER And MAYHEM

On Saturday in London, the final of the FA Cup will take place. The FA Cup is a major annual knockout competition between soccer clubs from England, and Wales. The first year that FA Cup was held was 1872.

It goes without saying, the final of the FA Cup in a big deal. However, it is not the only major event scheduled to take place in London on Saturday. There are also two large demonstrations that are slated to start, and finish around the same time as the match.

Between the two marches, around 80,000 protesters are expected. The concern among security officials is that all of the protesters, along with the hooligans who will be at the match, and the fact that all three events mentioned in this post are expected to conclude around the same time, it might merge into a chaotic (potentially violent) situation.

As a result of that concern, 4,000 police are going to be deployed in the area, including armored vehicles.
