BLOCKADE UPDATE. OIL, SIGNS OF BIG ESCALATION COMING

 In this post, I am going to cover three topics (all of them connected). The first topic is an update on the last post. Shortly atter I published the post the Houthis struck 2 vessels in the Red Sea. The attacks are responsible for the next topic.


Due to the attacks yesterday in the Red Sea, today the price of Brent Crude Oil reached $100 per barrel.


The last topic is, it is very apparent that there is going to be a significant escalation in the Iran War soon. The United States has Sent 150 military medics to Landstuhl Medical Center in Germany. Isreal has advised hospitals to be prepared to move underground. The United States is moving several additional fighter aircraft to the Middle East, and it is believed that U.S. Special Forces are in the area presumably to carry out upcoming ground operations.

REASON FOR THIS BLOG

When I was a kid knowledge of two events shaped my interest in global events. The first event that I learned about was 9/11 and I first heard about it in 2009, The second event that shaped my interest and the first thing I tracked as it was happening was the Arab spring in 2011. Ever since I learned about 9/11, I have always paid increasing attention to big stories around the world and at home but have always been annoyed with media outlets selecting which stories to cover instead on simply covering events as they happen. I am starting this blog to cover events in a straightforward way as they occur and to give my insight to those events. When necessary, I will add historical examples that help form my opinion. In a world that seems to be on fire people need reporting and insight without an agenda.

WHO WAS RIGHT? DANGEROUS SITUATION

 I closed the last post by asking what if anything people thought would happen between the United States and Iran by time I write this post. I also asked if something did happen, which side would be responsible for it?. If you said that something would happen, and it would be the United States (I am not saying the U.S was wrong to do it) you you are right. Yesterday an Iranian cargo ship broke through the U.S. blockade and after ignoring orders to stop, had its engine room hit by rounds fired by the USS Spruance. The other development I wanted to address is, today the U.S. Embassy in Iraq warned U.S. citizens already in the country to leave immediately. It also urged U.S. citizens not to travel to Iraq. The reason for the  concern is terrorist groups in the country are said to be aiming to assault Americans. The situation is so unstable the Embassy has cautioned U.S. citizens that want to leave Iraq not to go to the Embassy in Baghdad, or the Consulate in Erbil.
